Contemplating a home cinema (projector based) system for Christmas. In two minds over a panasonic blu-ray or a PS3. Have a lot of region 1 DVDs. Will the PS3 play them, or can it be "adjusted" to play them?

If you live in Noth America, It is the region 1 player that you want. All PS3 sold in North America are set for region 1.

Living in UK. Have only about a dozen region 1 discs so have opted for the PS3 anyway. If needed I can hook up the existing multi-region dvd player in parallel.
