Terrible shame, one of the music biz good guys (sort of) - some cracking records, usually with something to say and usually said it with wit, especially on the last couple of albums, the final one being recorded with the knowledge he was about to die...

Very sad

W.Z. has given me many years of musical and lyrical pleasure.

The eponymous album from 1976 (produced by Jackson Browne) is great and the double CD compilation 'I'll Sleep When I'm Dead' is a good place to start.

Then there was the Hindu Love Gods thing he did with the REM guys. The list goes on.

Thanks Warren.

Rest In Peace.

Yes a great loss, his albums are patchy but the best stuff is really good. The compilation is a really good place to start, but does contain some fluff.

RIP

But at least he managed to last until the release of the Bond movie, as he'd wished, and it was a good one too!

I'd highly recommend his latest (released in August), "The Wind". Just his take on "Knockin' On Heaven's Door" makes it worth buying. There's also 10 other good tunes, backed by an all-star line up.

Some good stuff on his website.
