Who's got the oldest LP12?

All the stuff on the "My LP12 is fine" thread has me wondering.

Mine (SME3009MkII & Shure V15MkIII) is serial no. 1108 and dates from about 1979 I think.

I bought my LP12 a few years ago complete with Syrinx PU-3 arm and Dynavector Karat cartridge- a 1979 model with an after-market Valhalla added on, all for $400 USD. Needless to say it was in some disrepair and my dealer eventually replace
1. The inner platter and bearing.
2. The armboard.
3. The motor.
4. valhalla (with a Geddon).
5. The springs.
6. The subhassis
7. The plinth (needed a newer model with corner braces for the Prefix).
8. Power cord.

All that remains of the original is the outer platter, the mat, the top plate and the lid/hinges.

The Syrinx gave way to the Aro, and the Karat to the Helikon.

You're right - I don't know where I for '79 from. In the papers I received with the LP12 There is a 1973 SME price list (£34.65 for a 3009 SII improved).

I paid £250 for my LP12. The chap I bought it from had owned it from new and it's been very well looked after and regularily serviced. I've got all the paperwork, including the documentation for a replacement stylus he had fitted at a later date. It sounds wonderful IMHO!

Mine is 1978 vintage, serial No. 17302 bought in Singapore. The machine was made for the Japanese market as it is 240 V but has an American flat 2 pin lead.

Mine doesn't even have a serial number! Bought it new early 1973 with a SME 3009 II. The deck cost £125 I think. I didn't know anything about it and just needed something to sit under that beautiful arm! In those days all decks sounded the same anyway didn't they!!
It's since been fitted with a Valhalla, been cirkused and has an Ittok II arm instead of the SME. I belive only the plinth remains from the original.
