£15 each! So you are looking at £45 for the Fraim and £120 to do the speakers. Sorry but this is a ridiculous price.

does anyone else find it odd that someone can spend £1000 (or more?) on a hi-fi stand and then say £15 for a fraim chip is ridiculous?

That's the price of a couple of CDs. So the question is, which will sound better?

My dealer supplied me with a set of three; along with some other kit and they weren't itemised on the bill.

But; £12 for the three rings a bell?

Sorry Syd, but not to infer your joke was predictable, but there are as yet, undiscovered tribes in the heart of the Peruvian jungle that knew were going to say that.

That sounds ok, I know you may think I am being tight but spending money is one thing but getting ripped off is another.

Having purchased a grand total of 14 chips, I can assure you that the money is well spent. I experimented with them under the NBL's first, which did seem to tighten up some of the presentation; then put them under both Fraim stacks. The results were nothing short of impressive.

I would strongly suggest you try them, particularly under a Fraim. They are tremendous; and considering some of the cable/conditioner/room reno's etc. that many propose here, they represent a relatively inexpensive way to "upgrade".

I would recommend a similar experiment: under the speakers, then the Fraim. tw

The chips are very very similar to an older product from the 80's marketed as "Tip Toes" which was a line of machined aluminium alloy cones (spikes) of various sizes and of similar cone with a dimple for use under the spikes to prevent damage to hardwood floors. If you can find any they will be cheaper than chips. If you are dubious about the effect that chips will have, try placing a coin (the 2 Euro coin would be good) under each spike. If you notice an improvement that you like, then going the extra step to the chips (or similar) will bring about a further improvement (and look better, your friends and guests when over will stop trying to pickup the coins Smile).

As I still have a quantity of the Tip Toes, that is what I have under all of my spiked stands which are on hardwood floors).

Cheers,
