Picked up the album "Kitty Jay" on recommendation of a friend and am gobsmacked at the quality of the song-writing and performance.

It's a folk(y) album, guitar based, but is well worth checking out even if you're not normally into folk music.

The guy has a great voice (sounding eerily like Jeff Buckley at points), and apparantly the album was recorded in his kitchen for the princely sum of £500. Oddly though it sounds bloody great.

I'll second that.

I saw him on the BBC3/4 coverage of the Cambridge Folk Festival. I got the album on the strength of a single song and I wasn't dissapointed. A few weeks later I noticed that the album was nominated for the Mercury Music prize too.

He plays a mean fiddle doesn't he?
