Hey ROTF.....

.....have you got the Jegsy Dodd and the Original Sinners album 'Wake Up and Smell the Offy'?

As a fellow HMHB fan I can recommend it v. highly. I got it last week and have been listening daily. Great stuff. He's a scouse poet originally from the Probe Plus stable with some really funky music that sounds a bit like Space I suppose (or maybe it's just that I've got scousers in my mind at the moment).

A couple of tracks aside the songs are brilliant, funny and the observational humour of the lyrics has a very similar bent to HMHB. Try it and see.

Thanks Jonathan

I'll check it out - do you know if Geoff is selling it through Probe Plus?

I've just been reading Half Man Half Biscuit lead singer speaks out about Tranmere, football and music, where Nigel declares that he has been to more games than Glenda Jackson.

Nigel describes his influences as the Watersons, Wagner and the Alternative TV album 'The Image Has Cracked'.

He says HMHB output resembles a series of complaining letters to the council backed up by some very rudimentary chord structuring.

He has noticed changes in the last 20 years and says there is now 'Parking on pavements',
which is exactly how Nazi Germany started! Litter dropping should also be punished severely - and I do mean SEVERELY.

Also - make kids walk to school again - it's how we learned our social skills. Oh, and cube more Mini-Motos… too noisy for a start before we get on to any law-breaking agenda. And instruct Bus Drivers to 'cheer up for Christ's sake'.

He ends

Three Wishes eh.... For TRFC - guaranteed football at Prenton Park would be more than enough...

For me - To swim with tuna

For the World - A Cure for Restless Leg Syndrome would be good. But apparently they’re about to announce a cure for RLS in Denmark (terrific race, the Danes) so I better change my wish for the world in general and this quote by Charles Sumner should deal with it;

“Give me the money that has been spent in war, and I will clothe every man, woman and child in an attire of which Kings and Queens would be proud. I will build a schoolhouse in every valley over the whole Earth. I will crown every hillside with a place of worship consecrated to the gospel of peace.”

You could even replace the word “War” with “Cup Final Catering”....

Well it keeps me going until the next album ..

All the best, Rotf

I found a couple on MP3s on his site - not bad at all. It reminded me of John Cooper Clark as in
