ND5XS with external harddisk (FAT32)

Posted by: Thorsten_L on 29 April 2012

Hi!

I just wanted to check if the ND5XS is able to play whatever audio-file from an USB-external-HD.

So I just put about 300GB music on it.

The external drive is now on FAT32 and has an external power supply.

And how nice: the ND5XS found everything within seconds (786 folders) and played everything without any problem.

The sound is fabulous too.

ndx can work with usbdisk?

Yes, if it can read USB stick it can read any USB mass-storage. Not sure if the socket has sufficient power though, you might need extrnal power.

You need an external USB-harddisk WITH an external power supply.

Does the ND5XS support extended FAT32? (which would allow for files greater than 4 gb, which may not be needed for audio but useful for having other than audio on the harddrive)

thing is i know the wife can use cd5 xs. I think i've got about a year of loading cd's to hard drive and teaching her how to use a computer for music and not just for card games

I will give my wife 5-6 USB-sticks and teach her the front panel of the ND5XS...easy.

Boy o boy...even mp3 sounded NEVER better...I think there even is a difference in sound USB vs LAN.

I tend to hear USB as a winner...
