24/192 with NDX and Synology DS212 help......

Posted by: voxpop on 30 April 2012

Hi guys, hope you can help on this one......

After so many problems with an Iomega NAS I bought a Synology DS212 and I'm having problems finding and playing my 24/96 and 24/192 files.

All other music can play fine using the inbuilt media server on the 212 but n-stream cant find them.

I wanted to use the inbuilt media server so I don't have to have the laptop on running something like Twonky. Could it simply be the inbuilt media serve can't handle 24/96 and 192 files?

Thanks for any advice.

HI,

I have NaimUniti and Synology DS110+ NAS and I do not have any problems playing 24/192 files (for example 'Meet me in London' hi res files) over wireless or wired connection using inbuilt media server. I do not use n-stream as I do not have Apple products but I use Synology DS-Audio app on my android phone. Did you try to rebuild the media database (re-indexing option - you can find it under media server options)?

24/96 and 24/192 working fine on my Synology DS211 to a 24/192 Qute.

What format are your files?  24/192 support is for FLAC only and not ALAC.

Has your NDS got the new 24/192 board?

As Woj says, the most likely issue is just that the UPNP server needs a kick to re-index.  When doing this, do check how re-indexing is configured as there are a few options for this in Synology DSM.

Ok guys,

I have reindexed the NAS and can find the Hi Def files on the recently added and by folder headings but it just won't show in the artist/album list ???? Well at least I can now play them.

Thanks.

are your files properly tagged? There are lots of free software for tagging audio files.

God knows..... If they are not tagged properly I would not know what to do to correct them.

How do I check ?

All CDs are ripped using iTunes and the HDaudio files were just put into artist folders within the itunes music when I had the Iomega NAS before it stopped working.

Found my missing tracks, they were in an unknown artist folder as the tags for artist, album and artwork were missing for some strange reason.

Think it is now fixed until the next NAS, server, software mess up.
