Bank Holiday?
Posted by: Quad 33 on 04 May 2012
Hi everybody. Just started my long bank holiday weekend ,not back at work until Tues. Looking at the weather forecast it looks like yet another washout. Just intrested what other people might have planed.
Happy holiday Graham.
Busy weekend.
15 training flights totalling just over 12 hours flight time, covering most of south west UK from Oxford to the south coast and west to Swansea. The whole area is picturesque.
Tuesday and Wednesday off, so possibly some golf and country walks with Mrs D
Cheers

Don,
The first time i ever went up in a plane, was from the old Swansea airport in the early 60s
10/ 6 at your own risk.
It was a very old blue de Havilland Rapide.
I could see out through the cracks in the side.

Played our first cricket match of the season due to all the rain in the last few weeks washing out the first few games. It was still flipping freezing but cricket = start of my summer so I'm in a good mood. Scored some runs too!

Ripped a few hundred more CD's. Checked the artwork on those already ripped. Archiving most into boxes ready for the attic.
Backed up from NAS to PC too. Just need an off site back up too for belt, braces and spare belt!
ps Keeping metadata straight is a pain. Anyone know a good way of editing? Including then sticking in a sensible folder structure, especially for calssical.
I went through various permutation when ripping my collection using dBpoweramp. I decided that I wanted Artist Surname as the lead character, not 1st name. Also I was initially using Twonky on NAS, which didn't come up with Composer when using n-Stream (now I use Asset, which does).
I rip using Surname, 1st Name for Artist. Ditto for Album Artist if it' s one artist. For compilations leave this field blank. For compilations enter the artist metadata forf each track as above.
For classical (to account for Twonky's failings), I use the same scheme, but with the composer's name rather than the artist. Should I want artist details, I append that in square brackets at the end of the album title.
To keep all the discs by the same artist or composer in the same folder, you must use consistent spelling!
You will then find that single composer and single artist discs will be grouped correctly. Compilations will be in a folder titled Various Artists.
Just as an addendum, I also make sure the genre for musicals and film soundtracks is Stage and Screen.
It was all a bit of a faff, but my directory structure is (to me) logical, and I can quickly find tracks/discs.

Thanks, getting the hang of it now
Just ripping the collectors edition of Round the Horne (all 4 series of 8 CD's each, plus a bonus of 4 more CD's) and the first 3 discs had metadata quite nicely arranged straight off AMG, get to disc 4 and the protocol changed. At least I caught it early and named stuff the way I want it to be.

Just noticed you thread asking this same question. I suppose I reallly ought to have posted it there!
I spent a lot of time editting the metadata - luckily dBpoeramp adds that facility to tht right-click in Windoze. I must have been having a senior moment when I started doing that, because it took me a little while to realise I could do It on batches og files at the sane time.
