Naim ND5 XS Fault 36

Posted by: stasmurz on 04 May 2012

Howdy. Just wanted to ask if anyone else has experienced a "Fault 36" error message on their ND5 XS and if so does anyone know what it is?

Although the initial IT solution of switching it off, unplugging the mains and then switching back on, bore no fruit, when I left it off overnight and switched it on in this morning the Fault cleared and all was good again.

Just want to try and understand what this is and more specifically if I need to head back to the dealer.

Hey... ran into this same problem today with my SuperUniti. I also turned it off, and back on.... no change in the fault 36 message. I am still able to control the unit using the n-stream app, but the remote does nothing. Regardless it sounds ok.

When your problem self corrected what exactly did you do? Turn it off AND unplug it and leave it overnight, or did you just power it down over night?

Any tips would be helpful... hoping this will just correct itself.

Thanks!

Hi,

please have a look to this thread:

Shure - it doesn't help, but you are not alone.

@rich: I will try this, when it happens again. But anyway, also if it may help: this can not be the solution!

Hi Rich,

tried your way with my "Fault 36" ND5XS - and it works, thanks. Anyway I'm still waiting for information about these issue and for a solution. Don't want to go behind my rack to disconnect and so on everytime...

Wondering if Naim is not giving any statement to this issue...

Thanks and regards
Thomas

Hi,

have been offline for a few weeks and after return from yearly holiday last week I tried my faulty nd5xs with the hope that the fault36 issue would have been solved by itself
But no - the same game as before my holiday...

So, are there new informations or experiences with fault36 issue from the last weeks?

If I will bring my ND5 back to my dealer to sent it to musicline (german distributor), I'm not shure what I should say to them about the fault... perhaps I will print this thread and give it to them...

Very frustrating...

Thomas

I had the same problem with my SuperUniti... Fault 36. No amount of switching on or off would resolve. Contacted Naim and they informed me to return it to my dealer, and that they would return it to Naim Canada for repair. Dropped the SuperUniti off last Monday... they looked at it, and opted to replace the SuperUniti. Apparently a new one with my name on it is on the way to the dealer. Ultimately, I'm not sure what the problem was with the previous unit, but am happy to have it resolved and get a brand new one. Fingers crossed that I've seen the last of Fault 36!

thank you for your comments!

Very funny, the last days since I wrote my last comment I had the fault only once.

Anyway, I'm gonna contact my dealer/distributor here in Germany to send it back to them in the next days or weeks - there must be something wrong and they should solve it.
