1.6c Update
Posted by: The Meerkat on 05 May 2012
Hi guys
Just read the thread on updating the US to 1.6c. I have downloaded the update folder to my Mac. Now what do I do with it? Burn it to a CD, DVD or what? Anyone done it?
Cheers
David
I haven't got an HDX. It is a Unitiserve SSD.
I am trying to establish whether or not the disc has burnt correctly. if it has, then the Unitiserve may well be faulty.
A couple of people on the other threads that I am running, have said, the burnt disc should show three folders. 'Desktop Client', 'Manuals' and 'Upgrade'. A click on the 'Upgrade' folder should show five Zip folders. This is exactly what my disc contains.

Well the serve is at heart a PC. Try powering it down for five minutes and unplug from the wall. Then start up, but unplug anything not needed, i..e ethernet, usb HDs etc.
Put the disk in, it will be read and enjected, leave it for ten minutes and go back to it.
Go to be worth a try.
Hi garyi
Done all that, in fact left it for 30 mins. No joy! I have now emailed Naim. Hopefully, they will tell me what I'm doing wrong.
I need to speak to someone who has a Unitiserve SSD and who has created an update disc, using a Mac. Also, what folders/files are on that disc. Then I'll know if I am burning the disc right.
The Unitiserve is not bothered what OS created the disc, providing all the folders and files are there, and it can read and update them.

Hi Andy
Oh dear, you must be a tad fed up. Not sure what to suggest to get the disc out. I ripped about 250 CDs a couple of weeks a go, and a Queen CD got stuck. Kept on putting my finger over the Naim logo, and in the end it popped out...thank god!! As most people will agree, CDs are manufactured at different standards. It appears that the Unitiserve can be a bit fussy with some CDs. If you are getting the same three folders as me on the burnt CD, then I must be burning it correctly. Wonder why our discs won't update the Unitiserve?
How long is the disc in your Unitiserve for? Mine is in only for about 10-12 seconds, then it ejects.
Hope you manage to get the disc out soon.
David
Hi David / Andrew....with some trepidation I burnt 1.6c on my mac using disc utility....put disc in Unitiserve (non ssd). Machine read disc for about 10-15 seconds and auto ejected...left machine to its own devices for 10 min..watching progress on the n serve app on iPad ...shows loosing connection and then after a few minuites auto re - connects showing 1.6c. Everything is working as normal now. I know this may not help but are you burning the right file using disc utility ? On my mac I opened the downloaded file and in disc utility highlighted the 1.6c folder click on the burn symbol ( looks like the radioactive symbol) ...couple more clicks as required and the disc was burnt. Any chance this is an ssd issue? Hope you succeed ! Steve.
Phil,
I tried upgrading my US to 1.6c from 1.6b. No love.
Found this message in the in the logs:
"Error(7009)=the command name 'backupxml' was not recognised Source=Vader Utility"
Ring any bells?
Thanks,
Ron
