N-stream volume slider when using ND5XS/NDX with non-naim amp?

Would like to ask if anyone is currently running NDX/ND5XS with a non-naim amplification?

If yes, stream the n-stream app still display the volume slider button (effectively non functional in this case) under operation?

It pops up if you have system automation enabled on the NDX ( and show volume on n-stream ). When I moved to a non Naim amp and disabled system automation it dissapeared from the n-stream window.

OK. Great! I am deciding if I should sell my current integrated (Roksan M2) and get a Superuniti or just get the ND5XS to work with the Roksan. I quite like the Roksan sound and am not sure if the Superuniti will sound better as a one box answer. It would be disturbing if there is a volume slider which I cannot use.

Buy wouldn't it be better if the NDX/ND5XS did provide (optional) digital volume control?

Streamer straight into power amp (Naim or otherwise) would be a great simple set-up, with full control via N-Stream.

If you were listening at volume levels of 80% and above, that would be the way to go. But bringing the digital volume down to below that level may well have a deteriorating impact on sound quality as the digital signal will not contain the full information any longer.
