Random Play

Posted by: PG on 15 May 2012

I have a Unitiqute and Qnap NAS.

Does anyone know which device dictates the random play order and can it be altered?

I can't tell you how often the same tracks come up time and time again, in one listening session.

I know I only have 8000 songs, and I love Josh Groben's February Song! but it and many others come round with unusual regularity.

Based on this setup it's a shame the lottery doesn't work in the same way ...I'd be quids in....

There is the advance button, but this has a tendency to stop the Qute from working (freezes) if the button is pressed too often.

Can the system be altered to be more random!!!!!!???

PG…….. As the Qute pulls the music from the server I would suspect that it’s the Qute making the selection, select random from the handset. Do you have multiple copies of the often-played tracks? On the odd occasions I have used this feature it is the various copies that are played, rather than the same copy being played several times.

Hi, yep the random is selected and as everything was re ripped there are few if any duplicates

Ah but truly random has far more repetition than most people would think .....apple, for example, have tweaked their algorithm to be less random

.....if I ask nicely do you think the NDS could have a Latin Hypercube button
