Sigur Ros question?

Posted by: Gale 401 on 21 May 2012

For years i have loved his music.

I am a words and music man and would love to know what he is singing about?

Melody and nice tunes are great but i want to hear the words.

Do any of you on here know of a site where i can get the words in English to his albums?

It would be great to be able to click on the download or Rip of a album and get the words come up in English on the screen while one is listening?

I dont want to have to date Bjork again

I'd direct you to the Wiikipedia entry http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sigur_ros

In particular the section entitled Volenska, which indicates that a great many of their songs are in fact in gibberish. The vocal phrases have been chosen to convey emotion through intonation rather than meaning. Probably means that the whole of their discography could be classified as a Mondegreen...

There's more on the above at eighteen seconds before sunrise, including some rough translations for the songs sung in Icelandic:

I seem to have given up on Sigur Ros since the BBC started playing Takk way too much on trailers and nature programmes a few years back. If you haven't already, track down their EP, Ba Ba Ti Ki Di Do, written for a dance performance - Radiohead did something for it too, but haven't released their half.

This is Ba Ba - you can guess what the other tracks are called:

Much like the Flaming Lips' Zaireeka, it's written so that you can play all three tracks at once.
