What are you trying to do with nServe -- that is, what are you trying to control?

I am trying to use n-stream as the display interface (rather than having to use desktop client and the web browser view)

To control the playing as a cd player and monitoring rips etc

I think you should use n-Stream to control the NDX...

Hi CDI - the desktop client & web interface are facilities of your Unitiserv - you must use Nserv app to reach the US.   And on the other hand, you need to use Nstream for the NDX (as klout said).

Get the apps sorted out and I'm sure you'll be rockin' & rollin'.

But as that's what I think you're doing already, is the US appearing on the network when you use a PC to view the network?   I would try power cycling the US (turn off, wait 3 mins, turn on), that may fix it.

BTW, do you have Auto Connection ON in the Nserv app?

The more I think about it, CDI, the more I'd go for a power cycle on the US... let us know if it works.

PS - silly question comes to mind... the Nserv and Nstream apps are both on the same iPad, aren't they?

I have powered the US off and now back on. I can see it on my network via windows. I have nstream (works fine) and n-serve on the same ipad

Remains "No servers found" is on auto connection

The US is borrowed from my dealer and was working on his ipad in the shop on Friday!

Damm shame as I have everything else working!

In Nserv Settings menu try pressing the circular arrow (retry) to get it to rescan the network.

How strong is the wireless signal (top left)?

Mine flips from 'no server' to 'HDX' as the wifi signal varies - I have only 1 bar signal strength right now.

Is the US set for DHCP addressing, so is the IP address of the US in the same range (192.168.0.x) as your iPad (and therefore is it on the same network?).. should be but gotta ask!

Posted on: 03 June 2012 by CDI

How do I check what the US is set for?

Posted on: 03 June 2012 by rjstaines

main menu, System, System Status, address mode  (=DHCP?)

Posted on: 03 June 2012 by CDI

IP address is 192.168.0 so looks correct

Think I'll ditch the Unitiserve as not only can I not use with ipad, cant get ripped files sent to assetnas to be recognised on ustream  "unknown artist" see my other thread - been a bad day!!

Thats the problem of WAV not of the serve in particular.

Although people here will tell you wav files are fine for tagging, the fact is, its a total ball acher. In general wavs ripped and tagged in one programme will not work on another.

I suppose the question then comes down to what you want to achieve. If you want superior audio quality as provided by naim and its years of skill in this area, then you use a Userve for its intended purpose.

If you want something to rip to multiple formats so you can have it on your ipod/car etc then use something like vortexbox, Userve was the wrong purchase for you.

It will work fine on ipad, as most other people have no issue, I would suggest there is an issue with your network somewhere, is your wireless on the same subset as your router, this could be different if you have a separate wireless access point.

also if you are using a home hub, then get a proper router.

Thanks,

I have not bought the userve, only borrowing it. I am in the superior quality user requirements as I am soon to get an NDS.

I have Virginmedia superhub and 30MD broadband which is fine. How do I check if the wireless is on the same subset as the router???

Checkout the main thread at the top of Streamin Audio 'Virginmedia Superhub Connectivity Issues' posted by Steven Hopkins - that's your problem !!  As garyi says, it's a networking problem... gotta be.

Look at the ipad's IP address (in settings, wifi, right arrow... displays IP address - should be 192.168.0.x and the router address shown should match the one you gave above - 192.168.0.x)

Um, now the issue with the supehub appear to be to do with iradio, which is a dns or wan issue.

The ops is one of his lan. It won't be a subset issue, but it will be because he has borrowed the serve, whcih i am willing to bet has an ip set by the woner which is either outside the rnage of the hub, or conflicting with an ip on his network.

The solution with the Virgin hub is to switch off DHCP (i.e. modem only), so it looks like an addressing problem which is why I asked earlier about the DHCP status of the US (to which CDI hasn't actually yet replied).    Note to self... keep well clear of Virgin media internet services.

Posted on: 03 June 2012 by CDI

How do you switch off DHCP  on Virgin hub? I am a bit of a dunce with networks! Do I then need another wifi router?

Virgin media has 30MB and soon to be 60MB broadband via fibre optic cables, whats the alternative?

Apart from not being able to access borrowed unitiserve on nserve virgin internet seems fine?

Yea, dont go doing that until you know what you are doing, or this whole thing will get upsetting.

Your problem is the serve you have borrowed has the wrong settings, either ip or dns, and thats what you need to correct.
