The Jubilee Concert

Overall last nites show was good,BUT one thing drove me mad!!
Why did the idiot in charge of the pictures have to keep flicking from camera to camera every 3 bloody seconds. He must have thought it clever, but i for one hated it. You start to watch a singer or a drummer say and 3 seconds later the picture changes. Drove me mad.
Thats got that off my chest.

Gotta say I was wanting to see more of the art projected onto the palace and less of Madness on the roof..!
Still, I was mesmerised at how bad 'Cheryl' was. Blimey she could hardly hold a note and the ones she almost managed weren't any notes I recognised.
Hi Guys,
My wife and I decided yesterday morning that we would take a trip up and see what was happening, WOW, what a gig, we managed to get right down the front of the Mall crowd, amazing atmosphere, I've been to loads of gigs but nothing like that, I'm not a royalist at all but there was so much love for Queenie I even came over all patriotic a couple of times.
I've been to quite a few multi artist big gigs over the years like Live Aid, Mandella's Birthday gig at Wembley, Amnesty, Knebworth princes trust etc but with these there is a lot of waiting around between artists, last night was so slick, it really was a greatest hits gig with legend after legend, for me Stevie Wonder, madness and Paul MCcartney's Live and Let Die stole the show.
Long Live the Queen, so we can have another one in 10 years time
Haven't seen it yet. Watching it tomorrow night but of the footage I've seen, it looked like a really good production. The Brit tech crews do these shows really well.
It sounded better on FM than TV - & that’s TV thru the hifi.
But why oh why can't dear old Auntie Beeb get the sound synchronised with both transmissions.
I've heard it was a blast to be there, but sitting at home watching was not so I am afraid. Apart from one or two notable exceptions I thought it was a pretty ordinary & sometimes cringe inducing show, it was only Tom Jones that made me wish for more.
The one item that I did sit up to was the “Sing” choir. Its not a great song IMO, but it just sounded so good on the night for a large live stage group. And what an opportunity & thrill for those Kenyan kids, one minute you are a kid in the school choir or living in a township playing with drums & pipes made from garbage, next you get flown to London & sing & play for the queen.
The linkmen where just plain amateurish, I’ve seen better at my local rugby club entertainment nights. And that Rolf Harris interruption was just unforgivable; whoever told Lenny Henry to do that should be thrown in the Tower until he rots, and put Lenny & the other linkmen in with 'em while you’re at it.
Top marks for the soaked to skin Royal College of Music Chamber Choir on the boat on saturday.
Drowned rats, but WTF, they had fun & it showed.
Hi lite for me was Grace Jones hoola hooping while singing Slave to the Rhythm.

Hello mike
Have to agree with you,i also started using my FM tuner, but soon went back to TV only.
For me Alfie Boe came across as a guy that could sing,so much that i will be buying one of his CDs this week.

A lucky escape for Prince Philip I thought.
Robbie Williams or a bladder infection?
Tricky.
John.
But .......................
I guess it was better than 'Bollocks from Baku'.
John.
Re: Cheryl no Pro Tools available?
The concert was the one part of the events I made sure I avoided. All the usual suspects performing - Cliff Richard, Elton John etc. cringe-worthy plus the sight/sound of Prince Charles
To be totally honest.
I thought the whole concert was awful .
Out of all the free bus pass Knights?
I thought Tom Jones looked and sounded the best for his age.
Dont get me started on the sound and camera work though.
Cliff looked like he had been dug up and should only come out after dark.
I loved Cheryl's dress,thought she looked stunning.
Grace was a laugh only because of the hoop and not because the lumpy vein shots of her legs.
Rolf was good but cut off.
I wish i had not bothered to watch it.
Stu.
I watched what I could through my fingers mainly for a laugh but to be honest there was nothing there worth laughing at. It was awful, I agree with whoever said "too many B' listers. R Williams made me cringe but he has always been able to do that to me. Gary bloody Barlow what a dullard, that song sounds as if he wrote it in the back of a taxi on the way to the studio. I feel incensed that this drivel was all we could do for such an occasion,if this is the sort of sh*te that is representative of the british music scene of today then no wonder the music industry is up the swanny. Grrrrrrr.
