A purely academic query prompted by a different thread.
If you're streaming files with artwork embedded from a NAS to a Uniti using n-Stream on an iPhone as a control point - does the Uniti read the artwork and then transmit that data to the iPhone?
Or does the iPhone read the information from the NAS?
My query is prompted by another post where buffering has been an issue.

Hi Jon, academic it may be but interesting all the same.
Phil explained in a recent post that n-Stream operates on the renderer, this then ‘Pulls’ the music from the server; so one might assume that option 1 of your post would apply. However, it may be more involved than that so here’s hoping someone more knowledgeable will inform us. Every little piece of information helps us better understand the whole.

Hi Peter,
I'm assuming here that if option 1 is correct then the size of the artwork could cause buffering issues in some circumstances - as the Uniti would be processing more information and transmitting this wirelessly no matter if the unit was wired or not.
Probably not a big issue - but I do find it interesting.
The advice is to have all streaming products wired - but obviously with an iPhone/iPod Touch/iPad there has to be a two-way wireless connection somewhere to communicate the artwork.

Hi Jon
I completely agree, it’s a lot easier to identify were a problem originates when you understand the entire process. Stating the obvious I know, still maybe Phil will enlighten us if he pops by.

I have an HDX and use n-Serve, so the following observation may not be relevant for a Uniti and n-Stream, but if switch off my HDX I lose the n-Serve display on my Ipod / Ipad. This would suggest that whatever I'm seeing with n-Serve comes via the HDX and not directly from my NAS.
