Joe Walsh 'Analog Man'

Posted by: J.N. on 21 June 2012

Anyone else got Joe Walsh's new album? He's singing about being an 'old-fashioned' analogue man. Nice to hear that JW hasn't lost his wit.

What he has lost is his hearing - Jeff Lynn too; who co-produced it.

If it wasn't so pitiful it would be ironically hilarious. An 'analogue man' coming at me through one of the worst over-compressed digital messes I've ever heard.

JW's 1970's albums sound fabulous - on vinyl and CD.

It's so bad, I can't tolerate it on my Naim system. Don't bother. One for 'iPod only' use.

What is wrong with these tossers in the recording industry?

John,

When Steve Wright asked him last Friday.

How was the making process  of your first album for 20 years?

Joe said the last album i made with knobs and tape, this one was made with a mouse.

Enough said.

Just pulled this great sounding bit of vinyl out of the rack for a play.

Hi Stuart,

That one and 'So What' are my favourite JW albums. You're right - top recording quality is to be found on the old big black round things - though as I said, they both sound very good on CD too.

Should anyone else still be interested 'Analog Man' is musically crap too. It seems that JW is not going to recapture his glory days.

It's 'bird-scarer' or 'shiny tea-coaster' time for this silver disc.

John,

What a shame.

When i heard the words mouse and Jeff Lynn used in the same sentence bells started ringing.

Then i heard a couple of tracks.

Glad i didn't buy it.

Had a listen to (some of ) this album on Spotify before I gave up. The title track is passable, but the rest that I could endure is, at best, as dull as ditch-water.
