Monthly music magazine the Word is to close after nine years with editorial director David Hepworth blaming “dramatic changes in the media and music business”

Graham

It is a pity that quality editorial is rapidly being replaced by the uninformed opinions that people like me love to express on fora like this one.

That's music mags on the list of comics, along with hi-fi and cars, not to waste money on any more .

Damn fine read with free CD will be missed in my world.

Defo the best music mag IMO, I can't be arsed with Q or Uncut anymore and even Mojo is now tedious. The Word CD is often terrific.

The source of many new finds for me.

The web site is supposed to be continuing but I am interested to see where Ellen and Hepworth turn up next. Its bound to be interesting given their form.

Jono.

I was reading The Word forum yesterday. A lot of the posts were on the subject of keeping the forum going and people not loosing touch. The though did cross my mind what if god forbid Naim went the same way as the Word, baring in mind we live in a very uncertain world. Would our virtual community still keep going?

Regard Graham.

Graham,

Sorry for the delay in replying but the office I am in at the moment has limited links to the outsire world and I missed your reply.

I have been a long time fan of Hepworth and Ellen in various music related enterprises from the revived Whistle Test in the early '80s throught to The Word. I have always liked their keeness to embrace more than just music in popular culture.

As for Naim, and by extension this forum, going down then that would be a disaster of epic proportions. This community would continue via some platform I have no doubt. I have direct links to a certain member who lives locally to me and we would keep in touch.
