Ref Virgin media superhub issues

Posted by: thebiglebowski on 06 July 2012

Putting the router into modem only didn't resolve the issues for me so I asked virgin to replace my superhub with the standard modem early this year and haven't had a single blip since. Appears to be common practice now as they immediately agreed when I asked and the guy said they have had many requests to do this.

Using the Cisco RV220W router with the modem and they work well together. Streaming radio works brilliantly through it.

I believe that the standard cablemodems (the smallish black ones) are only supposed to support 20mbits downstream as a maximum...

My cable modem looks like this.

I am on the 50 mb service and achieve very close to this speed.  Works a treat using the Draytek Vigor 2820.

The modem was the only option if you wanted the fastest speed available at the time.

Hoping it will also work on the 100mb service as this is coming soon and the modem is rock solid.

Cool - that's the new one not the old standard one.

It won't do 100 meg as that needs eight pipes and it only has four, hence why I went to superhub and am enjoying around 1 hundy megabities

Hi to all,

I'm having a nightmare with my newly installed Superhub.

Initially all went well until i started to listen to Radio Paradise etc on the web and it keeps rebuffering and my PC wont shake hands with my Naim Uniti !

Before i was using the bog standard Virgin/Netgear Router which was great but VM offered me 30meg Broadband for free so no brainer there but problems since.

i've contacted VM twice got cut off once and the guy on the other end told me that Virgin will not help me on any device which is not theirs !!

I'm struggling to know what to do next except just put the old router back on and dump the Superdud?

HAs anyone had the same problems as me ?

If so i'd be grateful for any advice please ?

Thanks in advance..

Mike.
