I am grabbing a recording of a small gig he did this year in Glouchester. A lot of this lineup are from Strange Sensation, plus a couple from Bay of Joy. I loved Strange Sensation, but band of Joy left me cold, although I know a lot of furm memebrs really liked them.

Going to see them tomorrow night Jamie...

Kevin,

Where are they playing??

Stu.

Forum, Kentish Town Stu.

Cool,

Let us know how it goes.

Take some pics if you can?

I dont like that place though,

Tangerine Dream sounded rubbish there a few years ago.

That said, it just might of been the fault of there music and computers.

Enjoy the gig.

Stu.

Normally I find it pretty good there Stu - in recent years I've seen Magazine, Doves and Todd Rundgren there, all excellent sound.

Will try to take some pics but I don't really fancy taking the M9 in there, but will take the old P&S.

How was the gig? I see it is available as an official download (thanks Stu).

Very jealous of you seeing 'Wearing and Tearing' live, I found a poor video clip, but it did have some great energy.

Hi Jamie

A good gig but spoilt by shitty sound and by the huge number of people standing around talking crap in very loud voices. Why pay £45 to go and talk rubbish? Perhaps they just wanted to be "seen" there.

Highlights for me were a fantastic version of "Spoonful", "Friends" and the opening number which I didn't recognise but I think it might have been "Fixin' To Die". He seems to be hanging direction yet again - this was a very different gig to the Band of Joy and Krauss gigs of recent years - a bit closer to the Strange Sensation sound, but still different, if you know what I mean. Kind of Emmylou Harris crossed with Tinawiren crossed with Little Feat crossed with Zep crossed with the Faces crossed with... well, you get it. The African guy (will have to find out his name) playing one-stringed violin was extraordinary.

LZ songs played:

Friends

Bron Yr-Aur Stomp

Black Dog

Who Do You Love/Whole Lotta Love mash-up

Gallows Pole

I wonder what the dowloads will be like?

 $19.95 for the HD / $14.95 for the Flac / $10 for the mp3/Alac £14.95.

Hi Kevin

A friend pointed out to me that the only audience I really like is that for classical music, where if you talk, or have your phone go off, you know about it from those around you.

I do get annoyed at idiots at gigs, a group of them spoiled much of the Pearl Jam gig I saw a couple of weeks ago.

Juldeh Camara of JuJu – ritti (one-stringed African Violin), kologo (African Banjo), talking drum, vocals - according to Plant's website, where you can pre-order a recording/download of the show, Flac, HD, MP3, ALAC, around £15 I think. I am tempted.

The set list for the Gloucester gig was this, not sure how much that will differ from what you saw.

1. 18 Hammers
2. Tin Pan Valley
3. 44
4. Four Sticks
5. Banter
6. Hey Joe
7. Bron-Y-Aur
8. Banter
9. Standing *
10. No Bad News *
11. Black Dog
12. Somebody's Knocking
13. Banter
14. I'm Your Witchdoctor
15. Whole Lotta Love/Who Do You Love
16. Bury My Body
17. Encore applause
18. Song To The Siren
19. Banter
20. Gallows Pole

* Patty Griffin vocals

If you don't have he album 'Dreamland' which 'Fixin' to Die' is from, it well worth getting, definitely my favourite Plant post Zeppelin album.

God, no. Just enjoy the moment. People endlessly sticking their stupid phones up in my field of view, just to take crappy phone pics is a major reason why I don't go to concerts as much as I used to.

Thank You, LZII.

The band Led Zeppelin could have been.

Returning to this thread after finding an internet connection in remote southern Spain it's nice to see how it has developed.

Damn, it's hot here! G

Whichever Old Git Winky is, I'm the other one. I 'saw' Kings of Leon a couple of years ago and it was just a sea of mobiles held in the air for the whole gig, barely glimpsed the stage. Really pissed me off. I had a similar experience at a Roger Waters 'Wall' gig. A couple of weeks ago I went to see Pearl Jam and while much better, I still had a guy in front of me that was taking pictures throughout the whole gig which took the edge off what was otherwise a great night. Just buy the DVD if you want to look at images, I go to live gigs to enjoy the music and the atmosphere.

Yours, Old Git.

Most underrated song?  No idea, but Down By The Seaside came into my head the other day. Don't hear that talked about much and it is a great song (not my favourite, but that's a different subject!)
