Music Library Artist Sort
Posted by: ken c on 16 July 2012
i notice that artists in my music library on the ReadyNAS duo are sorted by first name. how can i change this to sort by 2nd name, so that Bill Evans is under E rather than B...?

Ken,
I am sure that someone will provide a better answer than mine but I think that this depends on how you enter the metadata in the first place. I have found that this is more of an issue for the smaller number of classical CDs that I have ripped. Fortunately I stopped after the first thirty to see how they appeared in N stream and have had to subsequently edit the metadata. This has been instructive in that experience (trial and error) has taught me how to do this more efficiently as well as understanding the benefits of ensuring that the metadata is optimised at the ripping stage.

Forester, many thanks. i have used the UnitiServe/SSD to rip my CDs -- i am not aware of at what point i can intervene to edit metadata, other than after the rip. anyone more suggestions? i was kind of assuming there was a setting to control this sorting?

Ken, a case of different software - I use dbpoweramp/assetnas into an SU. Hopefully this reply will solicit a response from one of your fellow UnitiServe owners.
