Naca5 to unitiqute connectors?

Posted by: hugo5282 on 25 July 2012

Just received my unitiqute and noticed it came with 2 plastic connectors for the amp and the metal bits are flexible.  I do have standard naim connectors on my existing naca5 so presume these are a different type of connectors for the unitiqute?   I've done a search but cant find anything on this. Can anyone help clarify?

I would assume that your existing speaker connections are the usual 90 degree Naim amp connectors whereas the UnitiQute ones are the straight through type...

The pins are the same, the spacing is different and obviously you can't plug the 90 degree connectors into the back of the Qute as they would overlap.

Cheers

Thanks Phil for clarifying.  I wasn't aware of this and the manual didn't specifically mention this so I was a bit confused when I saw the 'straight through' type plugs.  I understand why it needs to be given the tight spacing of everything else on the unitiqute.  As a suggestion though, perhaps this is something that you'd need to mention on your website + manuals for clarify.

Thanks Phil.

May I swap unitiqute straight plastic connector to existing 90 degrees connectors?

Yes, but you will need to re-solder into new pins as the the lead orientation is different - side on instead of straight on.

got it so I  think I 'll solder the new ones since I meant to avoid soldering in the first place.

thank you Dane

at the moment I've ditched older plastic off the cable and managed to plug those pins directly, seems to work OK.

Am I doing wrong?
