NDS with 2x 555PS-DR

Posted by: Michael Kramp on 26 July 2012

Since July 13. I am a proud owner of the NDS with 2x 555PS-DR Power Supplies and I can tell you, it is fantastic now after playing a while

The Sound is near to my 555CD with 2x 556PS (which are not updated now to DR)

Fantastic!

Thanks to NAIM engineers for that great work!

Hi Dave, the 555PS (when I last looked) provides +- 10 and 22 volts, 2x +15 volts and 4x 0 volts. Each of these busses has it's own circuit and regulator. Now any attached device using these busses share them between circuits, even though they may well have seperate regulators for each circuit on the device itself, coupling and common ground  current will occur.

By having two seperate powersupplies, perhaps one feeding digital and the other analogue, is providing a very very high impedance path to RF between the PSUs by effectively having two different regulated feeds from the powersupplies  for the same voltage buss and isolating the 0 volts to prevent circulating ground currents between circuits.

The advance in 2 separate Power Supply's is the fact, that you separate the digital and analogue part from each other. Nothing more...

Michael,

You run 2 x Superline off your LP12 each powered by a SuperCap? How does that work?

@Nicolo Each channel out of the LP12 goes on a SuperLine on i.e. the left channel. This is the way you separate the stereo channels. In the end each SuperLine has his own Power Supply. Similar with the the two 555PS on the NDS.
