Get a copy of this.

You will never see a film or ending like it.

Tom did his best ever work on this as did many others  IMO.

The sound track album is also wonderful.

I both disagree and agree with Julian, he's made some valid points; however, he's also made some invalid ones.

Anyway, have three spare hours tomorrow so I'm going to watch this movie:

Julian, what do you think?

I know lots of people who rave about this film, and just two others who like me, disliked it.

For me it is like one of those Hollywood special effects movies with an explosion in every scene, except in this case the explosions are the acting.

There is just too much acting in it, no restraint. I found it like watching a bunch of actors showreels where they cut their most hysterical performances together.

I really didn't like the ending either, it didn't tie in what had gone before.

I didn't like 'Boogie Nights' either, and for me to not like something with William H Macy in it is hard. I am just not a fan of Paul Thomas Anderson.

I suspect that I am in a minority in disliking this film, but just in case there is anyone else out there who wonders why people rave about this, you are not alone.

I should recommend a film with fantastic acting in it, as comparison, so in contrast I would say try 'Fargo', I can think of no more deserved Oscar than that won by Frances McDormand for her performance in that film, reserve, control, and character.

Either that or 'His Girl Friday', Cary Grant and Rosalind Russell firing off witty dialogue like a machine guns.

Sorry Stu.

Jamie,

Fargo was a brilliant film.Yep

To this day I still think B.B should have got the best that year for her work on the Mike Leigh film

She just nailed it.IMO

I would love to work with Mike,He just brings the best out of people by letting them flow.
