UQ update kit - which first?

Doing my Qute update at home, just got the streaming module, ordered a proper USB to RS232 cable, borrowing a Windows laptop to do firmware update.

Do I have to wait and do the firmware first, or can I put in the module while I'm waiting for the cable to come?
