BT bloody bandits.

Posted by: Gale 401 on 09 August 2012

After over a month of almost no incoming calls that took one week to sort out after waiting in all day twice for a engineer to call,That never turned up.

And many hours on the phone to Bomb bay. and two new panasonic phones later.

He turns up says its a fault at the exchange just down the road.

Yep thats what i have been telling them in India.

Joke i get a £3.07 refund off my bill because they go from the day i reported it not others saying they cant get through can you test the line?

Thats the thing when people rang me it would give the ringing tone through there phones.

That got fixed and my hub starts dropping out and messing about.

After another almost three bloody hours being on hold rung back and cut off on the phone to india

Fed up with that. they send me a new hub 3, again should of been here yesterday between 7 and 6.

No sign of it.

On the phone again for another bloody hour and a half this morning.

Got some one in liverpool this time when i said i wanted a MAC NUMBER.

It will be here today.

Well it came lunchtime and packed up half hour ago.

Another one will be here Saturday of Monday.

I am using a very old one that works to post this.

Stu.

That all sounds very similar to my experience last year. We tried to leave them because of their incompetence, and somehow ended up roped into another year's contract. Hopefully, this month we will move over to PlusNet. Strangely, they're a subsidiary of BT, but aye oop in Sheffield. Fingers crossed we manage to make the move. Tony

Tony,

I have been with them for years and on no contract for the last two with free all day all night calls and  un Ltd downloads.

The new hub3 have not cost me anything.

And i have a even cheaper deal than i did.

It will get sorted just having a rant.

Just tell them you want a MAC number and you get a English person to talk to.

You will end up with a better deal than plusnet.

When they ask where are you thinking of going just say you have a short list that are a lot cheaper.

I used to pay by Direct Debit up until two years ago but got fed up with them helping there selves every month saying you will be using more next month like british gas.

Yeah, I monked and moaned at them last year and was eventually given unlimited broadband at a lower tarrif. However, every time I've tried to arrange something with BT, they've lied to me. They lie to everyone. I forgive mistakes, not constant lies. So I will be leaving them and I'll feel better for it. I don't need unlimited bb, just lots, so hopefully PlusNet's 60Gb tarrif will suffice. Tony

I switched from TalkTalk to Plusnet 3 months ago, their help line in Sheffield is excellent. My speed is not that good but its the same with most around here in Taunton.

Tony .. you are switching from BT to BT then, as isn't PlusNet a wholly owned BT company?

That said I think PlusNet is one of the better ISPs.

of the big uns, plusnet and o2 better than ave customer service. If you're in a fast area and have an o2 mobile, good deals to be had.

Guido,

Yes, I realise that. I asked a question on here a year ago, and PlusNet were unanimously recommended. I've heard nothing bad since then, and after having my 180 and HiCap serviced by Darran at Class A last year, I have a soft spot for Sheffield.

Sheffield is in God's own county. We have 10 olympic gold medals, Michael Vaughan and Black Sheep Bitter (Oh, and Darran).

Posted on: 10 August 2012 by Tony Lockhart
Not just Black Sheep, as Theakstons is back on form too. Oh, hang on, I'm off to a lovely hotel near Masham next month, and another in December

I'm with Sky for everything (I simply try and ignore I'm part of the evil empire) and have had very few problems with my BB over the past 3/4 years although it's never been particularly fast here in beautiful Durham.

...So I am definitely interested in BT's Superfast BB with only the perceived hassle of the changeover putting me off ....anybody got BT's superfast version? and how was it for you?....

...But isn't it strange that Sky (of all companies) have been so relatively slow in providing affordable superfast BB? or have BT simply used their monopoly to hinder them rolling it out?

Posted on: 10 August 2012 by Gale 401

Jet,

Big h has had BTs super fast for a while.

Its only as fast as where you live though.

I have friends that live right out in the middle of nowhere in France.

They have had better superfast BB connections as standard for over ten years.

If they went on to dial up Its like a rocket compared to what we get in the UK.

Is that the same Plusnet that is is owned by BT Group?

Posted on: 13 August 2012 by Tony Lockhart
As mentioned earlier in the thread!

Whoops, I'm jet lagged after 3 days in France and Belgium.

Posted on: 13 August 2012 by Gale 401

Got home an hour ago and the BT replacement hub was sitting by the front door.

Oh wonders of wonders  its the wrong one.

So after another almost 3/4 of a hour on the phone another one will be here within 3 working days.

I feel you get what you pay for.

I use Zen Internet, based in the UK, I buy my own router/hub, and replace them as they do pack in after 18 months quite often (this one is doing well though).

Includes web hosting, C+ control panel, has very reliable FTP, and they do not throttle bit torrent (which all the big companies do). I know most people don't have those needs, so it wouldn't be worth while for a lot of people.

I do pay £35 a month for it, but I get what I want.

I used PlusNet at my last house and they were incredibly helpful and competant ...

Perhaps we should have a 'Naim North' meet-up sometime, preferably with Old Perculier on hand pull not too far away.

I moved from Bt  to Talk Talk 6 months ago and very happy with the package I"ve got.

A couple of weeks ago lost my phone and broadband. After a call to India with a 5 min wait.got an engineer booked and they even texted me to confirm the appointment.

Thought the service was very good.

2 days from reporting to fixing.

hope your issues resolve themselves soon Stu.
