Serve noise

Three inquiries, would like feedback.
1. serve makes noise. Every few minutes, it sounds like the hard drive is "busy". This noise lasts for 5-8 seconds and occurs every 10-20 minutes. It is only sitting there turned on but not being used. It is quite loud and if I do use it to play any music you can hear it during playback.
2. Makes noise while playing ALL cd's. I mentioned before in an unrelated post that is sounds like it's spinning up and stays spinning at a high rate which makes a lot of noise. I'm sure most would recognize the noise when they place a cd in a computer drive and it first spins up. That is the same sound but it is continuous.
3. I would like to update to the 2tb version (what is the price to update) but was told by USA representative at Sound Organisation, it is not available but others have confirmed it is and in fact have already updated.
My 1tb userve is a bit noisy when ripping and can girgle away in the background when doing nothing, just seems normal to me as it's always ben that way.

The music is loud enough to not have it be a bother to me
