Forum Rugby Club 2012-13

Posted by: JWM on 20 August 2012

Well, only one more Saturday of pre-season friendlies before the 2012-13 Season begins.

Personally I can't wait, not least because I am now a proud Leicester Tigers Season Ticket holder. But, lest I'm accused of being narrow-minded, I begin with not with Tigers, but with one of the old enemies, Gloucester Rugby. Very interesting choice of Big Jim Hamilton for captain ... he'll certainly set an example in a handbaggy punch-up, but I don't mean of measured self-control!

It's going to be an interesting Season up front, with a revised scrum command and the introduction of a 5-second 'use it' hurry-up by the ref for static rucks. Hopefully this will end the 'centipede' whilst allowing creative driving forward play to continue. And so also no winding down the clock by holding a ball in a ruck, that'll be an interesting one...

And there's going to be more possible TMO involvement. I can see the potential, but last season some refs went to the TMO for almost every Try, unclear or clear. I hope it won't entrench a culture of institutionalised indecision that could erode confidence in referees. We'll see.

Oh, and by the way (in case you'd forgotten): TIIIIIIII-GERS!

Worcester is trying to elevate itself. I don't think it is quite  a yawn though. I am not that interested in Rugger, well not enough to get emotional about the results. It is a ball game, and, at that, one with funny shaped balls!

Don't fancy the communal bathing after either! We used to play Rugger at school, and the reallly horrible part was in the changers afterwards!

Dear Mark,

Things look a lot better at the end of 2012 than the beginning!

I even might be in a position to feel happy about inviting guests in the coming months, which would be a first for a long, long time.

Glad you are well. I haven't posted very much on the forum for a couple of years but I have missed speaking to you.

We'll put that right in the New Year. My email is the same if you still have it.

My house is two minutes from Worcester train Stn. I shall have fully comfortable spare room arrangements before Christmas!

Then we can have a proper meeting!

Might take you up on that George!

Massively physical effort by England. They have been by far the best team in the second half. They were undone by the luckiest try in the history of the game.

England dominated in the loose today. They just need to work on their execution.

Robshaw yet again demonstrating naive captaincy with his decision-making on whether to kick or not.

England lost against both Aus and SA and should have won both.

15 man lineout. Amazing!

Didn't pan out as badly as it could have done for Wales in the end.

Allez, allez, allez. Time to shoot some Tigers!

You and whose army?

Posted on: 25 November 2012 by Chillkram

The rain coming down now - let's hope it's short-term after a blistering start here from our boys.

Posted on: 25 November 2012 by Chillkram

Wasps into the 22 but pinged for offside. Our pens are allowing Tigers back into the game though they're exerting a lot of breakdown pressure

Posted on: 25 November 2012 by Chillkram

Superb scrum again - well done the front row boys. We've won a shot at goal.

Posted on: 25 November 2012 by Chillkram

Nicky hits the post. Darn. 8-3

Posted on: 25 November 2012 by Chillkram

Some fine attacking play but we are struggling at the breakdown as Tigers pile numbers in.

Posted on: 25 November 2012 by Chillkram

Only negative this half is that we should be further ahead. We've had chances.

Posted on: 25 November 2012 by Chillkram

Ford makes it 8-6.

Posted on: 25 November 2012 by Chillkram

Momentum swinging Leicester's way at the moment, we're being pinged a lot on the floor and Tigers are into our 22

Posted on: 25 November 2012 by Chillkram

When it opens up we look dangerous but too many errors despite the good intent out wide. Halftime 8-6

Posted on: 25 November 2012 by Chillkram

Ford steps up for an early kick in the second half. Gets it 8-9

Posted on: 25 November 2012 by Chillkram

Wasps go back ahead 11-9.

Posted on: 25 November 2012 by Chillkram

14-12 now with 19mins to go. Sam Jones and Tom Lindsay on for T Rhys Thomas and Poff.
