Forum Rugby Club 2012-13

Well, only one more Saturday of pre-season friendlies before the 2012-13 Season begins.
Personally I can't wait, not least because I am now a proud Leicester Tigers Season Ticket holder. But, lest I'm accused of being narrow-minded, I begin with not with Tigers, but with one of the old enemies, Gloucester Rugby. Very interesting choice of Big Jim Hamilton for captain ... he'll certainly set an example in a handbaggy punch-up, but I don't mean of measured self-control!
It's going to be an interesting Season up front, with a revised scrum command and the introduction of a 5-second 'use it' hurry-up by the ref for static rucks. Hopefully this will end the 'centipede' whilst allowing creative driving forward play to continue. And so also no winding down the clock by holding a ball in a ruck, that'll be an interesting one...
And there's going to be more possible TMO involvement. I can see the potential, but last season some refs went to the TMO for almost every Try, unclear or clear. I hope it won't entrench a culture of institutionalised indecision that could erode confidence in referees. We'll see.
Oh, and by the way (in case you'd forgotten): TIIIIIIII-GERS!

Was at the last 2 games. We are looking the part again and there is a real will to win. Apart from that our backline looks deadly! There can't be better in the Premiership. Bit early for an assault on the title but play offs a possibility. I think 5th more likely though.
Good times again and feels good at AP.

Hello lo lo lo lo lo! Hello lo lo lo lo lo!
it's so empty in here there is an echo!
The Tigers have retreated back to their homelands. Is there no-one else? Is there no-one else?!!
I now formally claim this as Wasps territory!
Allez, allez allez!

Not a chance, and I see that you have another easy game
Posted on: 12 January 2013 by Chillkram
71-7 yep, pretty easy! Especially when you have a winger like Varndell who can score a hat-trick in 13 minutes. Didn't you have someone good like him once?
Posted on: 13 January 2013 by Chillkram
Oh, wait a minute....it was him wasn't it, but you let him go because you don't like scoring tries.

What a cracking weekend of 6 Nations games.
As a loyal Englishmen I really enjoyed our game (attacking intent from the whistle, more offloads than in some entire seasons, quick ball and dynamic young forwards etc) but what I really enjoyed was watching the Italians reduce the French to a clueless rabble. There is no finer sight than a lauded French team ending a game looking as though they were a bunch of lads who met in the pub a few days ago for the first time. Of course they could be brilliant next week, but that is part of the point isn't it.
Was it me or was the standard of refereeing extremely high in all three games too?

Yes three stonking games this weekend and yes I also really enjoyed the Italian spanking of the French, just goes to show what effect playing regularly with the southern hemispere teams is having on them. Also especially pleased for Martin Castrogiavani...

I reckon it was the best ever start to the Six Nations. Superb action, good refereeing, the Italians didn't lose their rag, relatively few fouls. My only slight regret is that I couldn't sit with my (scottish) dearly beloved on our sofa during the England-Scotland game.

Nothing more dangerous than a wounded Coq in the corner Bruce
+1 on the refs
+1 on the best start to the championship I've ever seen

Blimey, that was knackering just watching England v France! Lot of mistakes but it was that kind of bruising, physical game. Credit to England for coming out of it well and Yah Boo Sucks to the French for cocking it up again
