nDAC and XPS2 Burnby

Posted by: RobH on 29 August 2012

I have bought a secondhand XPS2 to power my nDAC, trouble is I forgot to ask about the burnby cable and whether it was suitable for the nDAC.  How does one identify the correct cable.

The Burndy supplied with the XPS2 will be labelled S-XPS and is the correct version for the Naim Dac.

Or if the XPS is an earlier model, the cable may be the older XPS Burndy.

Many thanks, Charlie will the older XPS Burnby fit the nDAC?

Yes.  Most report the newer S-XPS Burndy sounds better.

The XPS is more than an "upgrade" to the DAC. It is transformational.

so it should 150% increase in cost

The manual states:

One end of each Naim
interconnect cable is marked with a band to establish
its correct orientation. The band denotes the end that
connects to the signal source.

I in (my infinite dumbness) assume the source is the XPS, so the band goes nearest the XPS???

Rob,

signal source in this case means the DAC.  So make sure the band is closest to the DAC end.
