FLAC Compression Level

Posted by: Gavin B on 29 August 2012

I'm about to batch convert my loseless iTunes library to FLAC files on my NAS for my Qute to stream.  What compression level should I choose?

Level 0 seems to have the least compression and therefore requires the least effort to uncompress (which I'm presuming has to be done for it to be played).  Is this the one to go for?

Thanks

If you are using dbPoweramp, there is a 'lossless uncompressed' right at the bottom of the drop chart (not immediately obvious at first). This is the one to go for.

I think that's the one I have used. I wasn't sure either so i tried both extremes to see which one resulted in the larger file. However, I didn't noticed the "lossless uncompressed" button. Good tip Geer.
