What is the best ripping software for a Mac?

Posted by: Vipers on 29 August 2012

Hi Guys,

Really simple this one and I'm sure it has been asked many times before, I'm PC based and have been using dBpoweramp for a couple of years now with which I'm perfectly happy, now the problem, my friend has just bought a SuperUniti but he is MAC based and obviously dBpoweramp doesn't work on a MAC, is there an equivalent on the Mac? we have been using XLD but it just doesn't seem as user friendly as dBpweramp so I was just wondering what the alternatives are?

Thanks.

There are none, XLD is the best bar none.

Just set up the preferences how you want them and insert CDs, seems pretty user friendly from that perspective. Baring in mind this is all XLD does.

Thanks for the replies guys, at least I now know that we are on the right path with XLD and that we are using the best that is available for Mac, I guess it is a case of familiarity with dBpoweramp that makes it seem more user friendly, I'll let my friend now and copy the settings from the link supplied, thanks James, should help him get up and running in no time.

Cheers.

XLD all the way - although I started with Max years ago, which is also a great little program.

iTunes will rip if you put error correction on

I use XLD 'cos that's the kind of Guy I am and I suffer from cd paranoia

I run dbPoweramp on my Mac. Works perfect with Windows XP and VMware Fusion. Used the same Windows on Mac to upgrade my ND5XS to 3.16 and for mp3tag.

Sounds like an interesting solution Fernand Bos, thanks for the info, I'll have to look into it. I went back round to my friend last week with a print out of James setup and it all seems to be working fine now, the biggest problem we had was figuring out how to permanently map his mac to his Nas so each cd would rip direct to the Nas, think we got there in the end though
