Talk Talk - History Revisited

Posted by: blythe on 31 August 2012

I was just filing away some CD's, including "The Colour Of Spring" by Talk Talk when I noticed a CD I don't even remember buying - "History Revisted - The Remixes" by Talk Talk.

I couldn't believe I'd got a Talk Talk CD that I didn't rember having, so I put it on.

I now know why I didn't remember it.  It is the worst album you can imagine  it simply ruins every song I've previously loved.

I can't imagine that Mark Hollis endorsed it.

Has anyone else had the misfortune to hear this monstrosity of an album?

Has anyone else bought a remix CD in good faith, only to discover it has totally ruined the music?

I'm pretty sure everyone connected to the band has distanced themselves from that album

Have you got Hollis's solo album? Just gorgeous.

Not every time, but much more often than not, in my opinion.

Somehow, I never got round to getting the solo album.... It is on my "must buy" list though!

Some singles from the eighties had some really good remixes done, but on the whole, I think most "remix albums" are crap.....

An honourable exception though might be The Cure Mixed up...

I did buy a remix cd some years ago but for the life of me cannot think what it was..but I do seem to remember it being a few different versions of the same track and all versions ruined the original!  On a    slightly different note and by pure coincidence, I have just got hold of another CD copy of Colour of Spring this morning having lost the original copy I had some time ago.  Played it several times already today...forgotten what a great album it is.

I've never understood the appeal of remixes. Just like I can't understand how playing someone else's records can lead to stardom (even if you can dance awkwardly behind the turntables and get the rhythms to match).

probably the only one that loved history revisited at the time  well maybe that's a strong word but it was not that bad was it? not sure I'd play it with Sprit of Eden or Laughing Stock close by though.
