Hi,

I have owned a Naim N-Sub for some time, and used it both for cinema and for music in a stereo system (CDX2, Supernait, N-Sats). Since I assume you have at least one PSU in your system, all I can say is that the N-Sub is an excellent sub, never invasive and rather discrete instead, great for cinema and extremely clever as to settings and versatility; and it can be fed from the output of a preamp or a PSU, like one would do with a power amp, with a 4-pin DIN to 2 x RCA cord.

In case you should decide for a 3rd party subwoofer, I think that the same connection can be used for any other unit.

The special cable needed can be had from Naim or from 3rd party makers; you can get excellent advice from Naim, as I had.

With the N-sub, which is remote controlled in all of its functions, it was very easy for me to start at zero level and slowly increase the sub's loudness until I started hearing the lowest frequencies at a minimum intensity while the Sats retained their voice, with no boom added; and this was the setting for me.

But you can decide for two separate settings for cinema and music, and preset each.

I hope this helps,

Max
