Another Led Zep heads up (or not?)

Posted by: Kevin-W on 11 September 2012

Rumours abound that the mighty Zep are, after five years, going to release an official DVD of the 2007 02 gig... I for one hope it's true. I'm usually very wary about bands reforming (Blur and Magazine were two exceptions) but it was a better gig than anyone had a right to expect.

Just to be clear.  It is the CD sq I am referring to.  Such a shame.  G

@blueknowz

Thanks for the info. Have the vinyl on order but may look at getting the DVD instead/as well.

While I agree the CD's not great, I think we can all get a bit too hung up on "sound quality" at times.

I've been listening to Led Zep boots for the past 30 years and most of them (until the late 1990s anyway) were of at best, ropey, and at worst, utterly dire, sound quality.  And you know what? I didn't care - because the performances were so wonderful, the music so superb.

Same was true for the Floyd, Can, JD/NO  and Kraftwerk. If the music and performance are great, they will shine through and "sound quality" becomes only a secondary consideration.

After all, are we here to listen to music, or to expensive equipment?

Oh dear, Kevin,

I cannot but agree with you again!

Live performances on lesser recordings [for example] simply put sound quality considerations into the rough behind the green!
