unitiqute and pre-amp quality?

Hi,

I am struggeling to get a long term plan for my system. Posted yesterday, but realise the post got a bit confused.
I have tried the forum but not really found an answer to the following:
If I connect my Unitiqute to a pre-amp how does the quality of the connected naim pre-amp affect the sound quality.

My thinking is, since the analogue out is post- volume control the signal is effectively passing through two preamps and hence the signal gets "compromised" from the beginning. Therefore connection to an external pre-amp does not make a real difference to sound quality?

Reason for asking is that I am trying to figure out if adding a NAC202 (HiCap) to my NAP200 would result in better sound quality than having the NAP connected directly to the qute...

All the best

I had a UnitiQute and a NAP250-2 together. I also ended up adding a NAC202/HC/NAPSC. That was a big jump up in sound quality (I listen to more analog source than digital). At that point I didn't really like that I couldn't get fixed line-out from the Qute to use it as source only, so I traded it in for a ND5 XS.  It cost me more, but was worth it in the long run.

Plus, the RC5 remote out from the ND5 lets me control the NAC202 using the ND5 remote (which is the same as the Qute remote handset).
