Hi all,
Today i drilled some venting holes in the furniture piece in which the NDX and SN are housed. When reconnecting i thought to be clever and put the RS232 cable in to leave it there for future updates. There is not much space and I don't want get out the NDX with every update anymore. So i put in the cable to find out the connector is pretty big and will have a volume conflict with the remote out cable if it is slotted in output # 1. When updating, the remote cable is always disconnected (from output #1) so i didn't notice it earlier. No problem i thought, i'll just use output #2 instead. Installed everything, played, tested the system automation, everything worked fine.
Now however (a few hours later), it doesn't work anymore and i cannot get it to work. I reset the sys aut settings and set up everything from scratch but without result. Even without the RS232 cable and using remote out #1 it doesn't work anymore.
Anyone has any advice?
Thanks.

Hi Dickey -
Unless something is broken, this shouldn't be too complicated. Double check that you have a 3.5mm cable running from the NDX's control output to your preamp's control input. Then make sure that System Automation is turned on in the menu system (see section 4.9 of the NDX manual).
If it still doesn't work, contact Naim support.
Good luck.

Glad to hear it Dickey.
With 20/20 hindsight, I should have suggested turning your NDX and/or your preamp off, and then back on again. No clue what could have caused this, other than possibly some EMI entering your components through the Naim logo's IR opening, temporarily scrambling its control functions. Do you happen to have a plasma TV in your listening room? Just a guess...

Hi Hook,
I already tried that because i have to disconnect the power to reach the remote in/out. I also cleared all cache from the i-pad because the n-stream app hangs sometimes. When i close the smartcover on the ipad and then reopen, everything functions but sometimes not the volume controls. This can easily be solved by exiting the app and then reopning/reconnecting. But the issue i had until yesterday couldn't be solved that easily. Or actually it did solve itself. When i feel like it, i will reconnect the RS232 cable again and the remote out on #2 and see if it repeats.
