http://www.amazon.co.uk/Sunken...0920HMNM/ref=mb_oe_l for those who are interested and have noticed how expensive this is, Amazon seem to be selling the vinyl for less than the cd!!

A new disc by Donald Fagen is a wonderful thing, but this time just the cover art is making me fantasize about it...

The CD pre-order price is £9 at hmv inc free post.

Have you got a  link?

I could not find the vinyl or soft CD on his site.

Is it a USA only ?

Stu

Details from Donald's Facebook page...

Pre-order Donald's new album, Sunken Condos in CD Softpak, or for the true audiophile, get the 2-LP set pressed on 180 Gram / High Performance clear vinyl. Sunken Condos will be available in stores and online October 16th. http://donaldfagen.shop.musictoday.com/

$38.98 - Way to rich for me, I'll settle for the CD. I love Donald, but I really want to see a change of direction. Donald's jazz doesn't seem to be progressing for my taste. Maybe it's because I miss the excitement of the guitar led chops of "Countdown" & "Scam". Oh well...

The clear vinyl does seem a bit of luxury treat, I see it is only 3 sides on Fagen's site too. I wonder what is on side 4? The only 3-sided double I have has the band's logo stamped all over side 4 which would be a cartridge killer if you tried to play it by accident!

The artwork does seem very cool, let's hope the music matches....

Cheers John

The Soft Pack version of the CD from Donald's site costs $27 (with postage) from the US to the UK (approx £16.00?)

I just wish a DVD-A version was available as with all his previous solos albums - but I guess that ship has sailed.

You can pre-order the vinyl set from Diverse Vinyl here in the UK for £22 which seems to compare favourably with the US price.

Tempting for those cool vinyl but...

Does anyone have production detail on the vinyl?

Is it at least 24/96 or higher res?

Mastering info etc?

Which record label and production house?

I would like to see the support for  their claim 'HIGH PERFORMANCE VINYL'.

Kuma,

I pre-ordered the vinyl weeks ago  without reading to much about it.

Have you looked on Don's site or the Hoff forum?

I am just looking forward to it turning up for a listen on the 15th.

I will let my ears be the judge.

Stu.

Didn't wanna spend 40 bucks if they are not well done.

Nothing on Don's site and I don't loiter at Hoff Forum.

The promo tune sounds promising, tho as far as the content goes.

I wasn't too enthused about Morph the Cat so I am taking a will see attitude on this one.

I don't have MTC on vinyl.

Its my least played DF album so never bothered with the vinyl.

I guess we will have to see when its released.

Have you got a Zplug on your Superline yet?

Stu.

Posted on: 03 October 2012 by kuma

MTC was weak, imho.

Still waiting for the 590R Z-Airplug.

I was told Naim doesn't offer the custom value Z-Airplug so AV Option is making one up for me.

Just heard the first playing of the track to be released as a single on Radio 2. Classic Fagen.

That's surprising Kuma but you won't be disappointed with the AV Options plug.

Enjoy

Sorry to bring this thread down to base level, but.....

Am I the only one to look at the album cover and think it says Sunken Condoms ?

I'll get my coat................ and a psychoanalyst.

Yeah me too especially they can make up a custom value standard Airplug.

An explanation given to me was that they didn't want to stock extra Z foil values at the factory.

So they offer just 4 or 5 popular values.

I think I'm the only one who's preferring 590R on Akiva so I get it that Naim didn't want to purchase parts just for one person.

Hi Kuma,

590R is an unusual value to use with an Akiva. Originally I used the 560R standard Airplug with the Akiva but Peter kindly gave me the 560R and 576R Zplugs to try and with the new plugs I preferred the 576R. I guess the perception of what is best may be influenced by the speakers used. I've not heard the plugs using Briks, like you have. All I know is that you won't be disappointed. Enjoy.
