http://www.amazon.co.uk/Sunken...0920HMNM/ref=mb_oe_l for those who are interested and have noticed how expensive this is, Amazon seem to be selling the vinyl for less than the cd!!

Steve,

I've done some extensive resistor value swapping and for my taste, I prefer the 590R over 560R ( IIRC, this is what Naim consider to be equivalent to the *K* ) or 576R.

That said i would have tried the factory 576R A Airplug but alas, noone stocks this in the US.

At the end of the exhaustive resistor experiments for both the Miyabi and Akiva, what I have learnt is that there is no *right* value. Rather it is a subjective value.

I am not sure if speakers are determining factor for my preference of 590R as I have tested the resistor in other systems with different speakers as well.

I'd think that a subjectivity of what perceived to be *sounding good* influences the most.

Its here .Two nice bits of 180g clear vinyl in good quality poly paper sleeves.

Well worth the £18 from amazon uk.

On side two at the mo, so far the pressings & SQ and music content are brilliant.

Hdtracks announced on Facebook that the album will be available in 24/96 sometime during this week I suppose. It was not available last night.

Have to admit I wasn't overly keen on a fair percentage of the album when I got a promo sent to em over a week ago. But now I seem to be in the right frame of mind to listen to it.

Did yours have a extra track on it?

Have you heard anything from Clarence about a new album?

Nope re the I got a promo copy as music files sent through the internet from a friend in the US and it didn't have any extra traxs. Didn't know that there was any add ons as I seemed to recall that even the Japanese version didn't have anything extra on it.

Haven't heard from Clarence. Think he is writing new songs at the moment.

Ouch. I pre ordered the vinyl form Diverse for £22 and just received this email from Diverse.

Hi

I’m afraid there is bad news with this release. We were led to believe that it would retail at a reasonable £25. Our UK distributor took orders at this price and we ordered enough to cover everyone’s order. At the last minute, the price has risen dramatically and we’ve been told we won’t receive  our original order quantity as not enough have come in from The States. It now sells for £40 and we’re frantically chasing around all of our distributors ordering enough copies to fulfil our orders. We’re trying our very best to resolve a situation that is somewhat out of our control.

Could you please get back to us and let us know TODAY if you’d still like a copy of the album at this price. Sorry about the urgency! The records are now going to be coming directly from America and will be here on Monday.

Apologies

Matt, Paul & Mark

Stu, Many thanks for that. When I placed the order yesterday it was priced at £34.01. I have cancelled that order and placed a new order where as you say it is now £25!! Very strange.

Looks like ordering from the States was a bad move! High price, e-mail only today saying it had been shipped, ah well. If your £18 one Stu, is the US pressing, you've done very. Can't wait, some great reviews on Amazon already from 'punters'. The few 'media' reviews Ive seen online seem to be one paragraph (ie useless) and recommend the 'essential' download track or track. For an LP that seems have at least 6 killer tracks that seems facile. Downloads aint killing music really.

Cheers

John,

You need to get ready to be hit by HMCustoms when the post person rings your door bell.

Don't be out or they will also charge you by the day for holding on to it.

Anything now from the USA over £12 or £15 gets hit now 20% VAT plus.

Some make it through but they have cottoned on over the last year big time.

Good luck and remember not to try and play side 4.

Just had my spy glass out and it says on the label manufactured in the Netherlands.

So it must be a Dutch pressing.

....and it's a peach!  Ripped onto the HDX through nDac/555PS it sounds just right and not overly slick.

Can we have one a year Donald!  G

Are you sure thats the only  record shop one in Bath?

They used to have a couple of good independent little shops that people on here have used over the last couple of years and longer.

Its a great shame if they have gone the way of so many others.

Surrey and Sussex seem to be the King record shop counties of England these days.

There's Bath Compact Disc who do classical and a bit of 'old' jazz plus 2 saturday market stalls with a bit of vinyl and a few CDs. The Bristol 'independents' came to the resue today however, both Rise and Fopp had the CD in stock. On it's second playing......a lot better than the last two efforts, Gaucho Dan-like in places which is good. I wonder why he went for 'synth drums' rather than a real drummer? Be interesting to hear them on the active system when the records finally turn up.

Cheers

In this interview DF states it was Michael Leonhart who played drums on Sunken Condos.

Thanks Geoff, he does indeed. Leonhart doesnt mention it on his website (although why should he), the drumming on the CD does sound very 'samey' to me, lacks sparkle too. Fagen is credited for the 'Rhythm Arrangements' , whilst there's also a 'Percussion Consultant' called Bill Dobrow, who was one time drummer for the Black Crowes. All sounds very complicated. Ill be interested to hear the vinyl version when they finally turn up!

Cheers John
