Sampler CD's

Posted by: Cbr600 on 20 September 2012

Interested in anyone's views on sampler orcompilation CDs .
I have all the Naim ones and the Linn CDs.

I feel they give a good initial sight (or sound) of a wide variety of artists that you might not otherwise know.

Anyone able to offer some good choices for me?

I have over 3500 CDs on the system already but would welcome hearing artists that are new to me

Following on from Richards post above, this is a very good Ace sampler IMO.

Currently available from Amazon new £3.88p used 0.98p

Graham, image looks like old vinyl, unfortunately I have a large collection of vinyl and no player. Sold my LP12 a long time ago. Is the record available on CD?

If you wish to widen the net to independent music stores then try...

Darla Records (Search for: little Darla Has A Treat For You) - http://darla.com/index.php

cdbaby - Moods-Type: Compilations  http://www.cdbaby.com/style/206

...and the cdbaby podcast http://musicdiscoveryblog.com/

Sorry Paul should have stated on CD. It is defiantly worth a listen IMO.

Happy to spread net wide, like all types of music.

I recall years ago having vinyl from a

Label I think called cherry red, maybe an aBlum called pillow talk and prayers?

Must check if it still exists

Thanks for recommendations

Sorry, but the only Darla I have is - LITTLE DARLA HAS A TREAT FOR YOU, v.21, WINTER 2004. I can't remember if I bought it or if it came as a bonus for buying a number of CD's back then. I was probably buying the excellent Piano Magic albums at the time (which you can listen to samples).

There are 2 new electronica cd's recently issued, I have both. One is originals and the other is remixes. Both are ok if you like electronica but I would not say they are future lassics, just a few good old memories. O an mine cost me 20.00. C'est la vie

Good selection of Folk artists on them.

They can be picked up very very cheap now from amazon sellers.

Stu

Thanks stu, will have a look. Are they all folk based?

Just ad a quick look on amazon and seen the artist listings.

Have ordered a few at 1p plus postage so either amazing value or no great

Loss !

The cooking vinyl CD's have just arrived and have been ripped. Listened to first album. And pleasantly surprised. Nice recommendation

Thanks stu

Glad you like them.

At that price its silly not to try.

If you want to listen to a brilliant SQ CD album that will cost you a bit more with two great artists on it?

Buy a copy of this,It will blow you away.

Its not a sampler album but there German record label has some brilliant sampler albums of music by the artists that are on it.

You will be hard pushed to find better SQ recordings.

This was a seminal sampler for me back in 1970.

Thanks again stu, will certainly buy this and have a listen. Recent buys I have enjoyed are some of the best female audiophile voices, on SACD, and the Linn samplers on SADC
