nStream iOS 6 compatibility issues?

Posted by: RexManning on 20 September 2012

Since I updated iPhone (4Gs) and iPad (3) to iOS 6 this wednesday, nStream is behaving strangely.

iPad;

- Is the most serious. choosing an artist, then an album shows empty songs. This happens more than often. Strangely enough, when I go to folder view and select the album folder, all is fine.

- Album cover art is behaving strangely by sometimes not showing cover art anymore. It almost seems that this and the previous problem are linked. As I have the feeling that when this happens, the previous problem also occurs.

iPhone;

- When in album info and while reading, I get kicked back to the now playing screen. This happens inconsistently, sometimes a lot of times, sometimes I can read the whole thing.

Anyone else has this same issues, or is this already acknowledged by our friends at Naim?

For now...I'll play folderview..

Thanks, Rex

Hi Guys,

At this time there are no specific iOS6 compatibility issues with n-Stream or n-Serve ... there will always be some units that don't update cleanly and in those cases deleting the app and reinstalling it will usually resolve any problems (or at worst resetting the iPad / iPhone).

One of the passes that Apple make when submitting an app for inclusion on the appstore (or updating an app on the appstore) is a check to ensure that you aren't doing anything that would break compatibility.

Cheers

Foxman 50

Encouraged by Phil Harris's reassurances, I installed iOS 6 on my iPad. Everything appears to be working as before. I have no issues with navigation or thumbnails and cannot reproduce any of the problems that the op complained about.

Hopefully, done done.

I've been using nStream on a 'new iPad' running iOS 6 for a few weeks now and it's been rock solid... Just wish the album are was a bit bigger. I don't think there are any iOS 6 specific issues.

Hi,

just hook in this topic. Since I face same issue.

can not find the music files in some folders Via Nstream.

It does not matter how I search, folder, or artist, or artist/folder.

I can not really judge if it comes from ios6.

The strange thing is that I can see the files with the build in synology music streamer , DS Audio.

i can stream these "missing" files with DS audio streamer to my NDX.

i did reboot the server and the NDX, no result.

any clue?

thanks

OK - the first thing to understand is that neither the NDX not the n-Stream app can "see" folders. (When you are browsing by folders it's actually the UPnP server that is simply rendering the folder structure as a browseable list.)

The only thing that they can "see" is UPnP servers and they are handed lists by whatever UPnP server they are "talking" to at the time.

So - in the context of this, your "missing" files aren't being given to the NDX / n-Stream by your NASs UPnP server so that's where I'd start looking ... see if the NASs UPnP server (I assume it's Twonky) supports the format of those files.

Hi Phil,

Thanks for input..

I am running the native Synology UPnP server.

The crazy thing is that the files were there earlier, but suddenly not aproachable by N stream but the DS Audio from Synology could read and play them on the NDX

At the end I have reinstalled the N stream app, and till now it looks ok.

Best regards

Japieb.
