ND5 XS power on problem

Dear all,

 

i am using my ND5 XS since some months now and during that time i have seem a strange behavior when i switch on the power on this device. Normally the frontscreen shows "ND5 XS" for some seconds and then proceeds to the working-menu. But in about 30% of my trials the screen stays black and the unit does not respond anymore. I have to switch off/on the unit for several times until it is work again.

 

Does anybody face a similar behavior on his unit?

I had this on my first unit. This has subsequently gone back to Naim and replaced with a new unit. The reason for the return was frequent "dropouts". The original diagnosis for the dropout was my home network. However, when I borrowed my dealers demo unit, the dropouts stopped. Naim then agreed to replace the unit without hesitation. Might be worth contacting your dealer/ Naim to at least rrecord the issue.

I have exactly the same issue with my NDX. Fires up eventually though and often on the first attempt.

Yep, same thing on an NDX - started after I shipped it 200 miles to my brother in law - it eventually went back to Naim, I'm afraid, but their fix has worked just fine.  Sounds like this is a known problem?  I'm hoping it doesn't manifest itself in the NDS!...  (note to self: must adopt a Positive Mental Attitude)

I moved it back to my dealer for repair. He told me that it might be a simple problem of the connection to the screen as the connection cable gets loose sometimes. The question is if it is possible to control the unit from an external device like an ipad to verify that. Unfortunately i do not have one so i have to wait for the repair.
