NaimNet + DAC + Power Supplies
Posted by: endlessnessism on 26 September 2012
I currently have a local system comprising HDX + DAC + XPS (powering DAC) + Nait XS + Hicap (powering Nait XS).
The plan is to expand this via NaimNet to other parts of the house and I am curious to know what exactly I will be expanding.
Obviously the Nait XS + Hicap are only relevant for the room in which they are located and amplification in other rooms is done by local room amps (NNP01 or NNP02).
What about the DAC? If the HDX is the system server, streaming to other parts of the house, I must be right in thinking that it's a digital stream and the digital-to-analogue conversion is done at the other end by a DAC contained in each room amp? In which case I must also be right in thinking that my existing DAC + XPS will only ever operate locally where they are and will have no role in other rooms?
I think I have answered all my own questions in the course of writing this but someone may be good enough to confirm.
And, if it's even possible, I am NOT about to start investing in an external DAC and power supply for each individual room amp - another question I have successfully answered in the course of writing this.
