Help! Problems with UnitiServe SSD and Synology NAS...
Posted by: GeeJay on 30 September 2012
Picked up my new US-SSD yesterday, but having issues with getting Naim Desktop Client to link with 'Scannable network shares'. Reformatted my Synology DS212 from scratch last night, and this morning, I created a new read/write directory (called 'Naim').
I can see the folder in the Naim Desktop Client (under Tools\Music Repositories\Scannable Network Shares) with status 'Online', however when I try and activate the share, the folder comes back to say it can't activate, and then reports status as 'Offline'. (BTW, I have pressed the 'Password' button and put in my NAS password). If I then 'Unshare' and press the 'Use as Store button', it comes back with error saying 'Cannot authenticate share \\192.168.1.220\Naim').
I have repeated the above paragraph multiple times now with following variables;
- Disabling all packages on the NAS (e.g. ‘Media Server’ & Audio Station).
- Activated/run ‘DHCP Server’ and ‘Directory Server’
Have searched on forum for an answer, but apart from changing NAS workshare name from ‘WORKSHARE’ to ‘NAIM’ (which I’ve done), I’ve not come across any hints or tips. Have also tried establishing a fixed IP address with my Bipac Billion Router.
Anyone on-line with a Synology who's had similar issues? Wondered if Phil H. is on line either?
Many thanks - George.
