iPad 2 Email Problem Help Please

Posted by: GraemeH on 03 October 2012

Last night my iPad 2 stopped sending or receiving email with the 'Cannot connect to server' message wheras my iPod Touch, with exactly the same unaltered email system settings, continues to send and receive as normal.

iPad 2 remains connected to the home wifi with no problem - Just the mail server issue.

Anyone with any experience of this or advice?

Thanks

Graeme

Whenever I've had that problem on my iPhones it's just been a matter of waiting til it clears. Annoying.

Cheers Tony - That's been overnight now and I'm curious as to why the iPod touch is fine.....G

2 things: 1 - an iPad reboot often sorts it. 2 - problem appears to be an issue with another open app. Check what else you're multitasking with. Mile

Reboots and a restore didn't help me! Just time....

I had this problem a few weeks ago.

Things can get messed up if you are looking at and sending mail on to many Macs at the same time.

Just use one at a time and shut down the ones you are not using.

The iTouch is a wonderful thing that always works.

Stu.

Re 2 - you could be on the money there as I was sending emailed images direct from 'Sketchbook Pro' before it happened.  G

Graham, We have 2 iPhone 4s and an iPad all accessing two shared email accounts simultaneously. My wife periodically reports problems with sending/receiving email on one account provided by a famed search provider. I have has occasional problems with an account provided by a famed OS manufacturer. Her problems were sorted by closing down the 30 odd apps she had open!!! Mine were sorted by closing down one of 2 other apps I had open. As far as I could tell, don't hold me to this, the commonality was that each app used location services and notification services. I've been more ruthless since in shitting down what uses each and not had a problem in months now.
