I've just had this exact problem with my UnitiServe-SSD.  It refused to eject or rip discs, so I took it back to my dealer this evening, who fortunately, had a replacement CD drive in stock for the unit.  After removal, and after taking the old drive apart (it rattled), they were able to retrieve my CD as well as show me the little piece of white plastic from the eject machanism that had come adrift.

Apparently, this is not the first drive they have replaced In a US,

The slot loading drives are made by Teac, and even though my US is only one week old, the Teac drive had a date of manufacture of Nov 2010.  Even the brand new one is a mid 2011 vintage.

Huge thanks go out to my dealer for the rapid fix and getting me back to my ripping with minimum delay.

Once again, shows the value of having a great dealer.

Hi GeeJay. After à night powerless it managed to rip 2 cd. Then it stoped. So i guess i'll have to leave to the store.

Thats a drag, because then i wont be able to listen to music untill its back.

Cheers.

Hi Magnus,

OK, so it sounds as if the problem is intermittent.  May well be worthwhile getting the US to your local Naim dealer to get a new Teac CD drive fitted.  They may do it for free (especially if under warranty), or as a good-will favor.  If worse comes to worse, the drives cost less than 20 euros, so should be a cheap fix, especially as it will give you worry free ripping for years to come.

all the best.

At 2000 pounds a pop, perhaps they should use a better tray mechanism. Based on others experience the plastic used is a little fragile it seems. I am sure Teac have tested the tray to open and close 200,000 times but something is not right.

Cheers.

Wow. I started out thinking that a US would be a vital cog in my target system, but I am beginning to be put off my feed by the repeated issues I am hearing about, not only with the US but with transports on some pretty high dollar CDP s. A $30 transport on a $3.7K unit????? Worrisome, you can buy two VTB appliances at 4 TB and still Have over 2K USD to spend on bad whiskey, unfiltered Camels, and women with too much wrinkle cream!
