Missing Persons Thread

I was playing The The's 'This Is The Day' on the Soul Mining album and then it occurred to me that I had not heard of Matt Johnson for eons.
I was wondering if there were any other bands or persons that had fallen off the radar or gone underground due to pressure, lack of inspiration, retired or even found something more interesting than music, god forbid.
We can start with the irrefutable Matt Johnson
Ian McNabb - Icicle Works
Great records by the band then a series of excellent solo records, never caught on properly though...

I totally agree, saw the band 3 times and Ian (solo) twice. Best occassion was at the ULU in 1994 when Ian was supported by two members of Crazy Horse. Me and my mate were at the front, and for the last few numbers Noel Gallagher came on as guest....
From the same era and place as Ian McNabb, Thomas Lang. Released a few great albums in the late 80's, then just disappeared. Lost letter Z is an excellent album, not a bad track on it.
Ian McNabb, any idea where he is or what he's doing?
Somewhere around the house I have a vhs recording of Icicle Works on a program called Reportage that used to go out at 6 or 6:30pm on BBC2 back in the late 80's early 90's-not quite sure. I remember they used to interview and play up and coming bands in those days like Sugar Cubes and a very young Bjork.

I was being deadly serious. McNabb plays living rooms.
Hi Mike, how exactly does this work, would one book him through hi agent or can we visit a web site and book online, hmm, do you think he would come to Oslo, I could pop him on Ryan Air, perhaps even priority boarding.
I would certainly like to meet Matt Johson, seems he has been doing a lot of various conservation work, such as 'Save Our Shoreditch' to prevent the spread of the City of London into the East End, good on him too. It was a disgrace how they have chopped up the old Spitalfields covered market to make way for those office buildings. It was a beautiful piece of architecture and engineering, and a great place to eat and buy food, and shop a little, nice part of London. There has been a market on that site since Charles I'st, and it was grade 2 listed, but the mighty City of London Corporation got around that.
Mat Johnson & Tracy Emin, interesting conservation team!
Cheers.

Samadhisound will be releasing Uncommon Deities on the 24th September 2012. I've heard a few tracks and it's not for me.
Nine Horses - Snow Borne Sorrow remains his best release for me. Unfortunately, when performed 'live' the delivery was so one paced I almost fell asleep. Not a recommended CD to play in the car .

I can imagine his style if singing would be conducive to some yoga/spiritual philosophy interpreted in music. Nice post.
Cheers.
