Double glazing

The door seal around our 30 year old double-glazed (white plastic type) front door could do with replacement.  I've been trying for the last 6 months to either obtain a replacement seal (it's the one that stops rain coming in) and put it in myself, or failing that getting someone to come and replace the seal.  Absolutely no joy.  All anyone wants to do is 'replace the whole front door, guv'.

So, I've repaired it with some insulating tape for now.

If its the seal that goes all around the door, you should be able to buy a roll of self adhesive backed profile seal that you an apply yourself. If you are referring to the rubber seal that goes across the bottom of the door, this is a threshold strip and can be bought from door suppliers / real hardware stores (not the B+Q type store). These usually are fitted with a plastic lip and the lip if pressed into a routed groove within the door / frame

It's the bit across the bottom of the door, and I have explained this to evry one of the door/window suppliers I have spoken to.  None of them seem to want to sell me any.  I'll have another try on Monday.  Thanks.

Have you checked the DG-repairers to (?), as these seem to run as different businesses, outside of the suppliers. Just a thought, as these businesses replace broken sealed units etc and I would have thought have the seal material.

.....ahh, the beauty of timber.  You can repair it when necessary.

I've ordered a batch of door seal gasket samples via t'interweb. Hopefully one of them will be ideal.  Still can't understand the attitude of the local double glazing people with their "you'll have to have a new door" replies.

SWMBO did contact a couple of the local DG repairers, but they weren't helpful either.
