Music converter for MAC? Please help...

Posted by: -goat- on 10 October 2012

Hi all. I'm doing my best to ditch using my PC as it's a pain to have to fire it up just to use DBpoweramp. I'm looking for a music converter for MAC with the following features:

1. Conversion to Uncompressed FLAC (like Poweramp)

2. The option to custom define the output file naming and folder naming formats

3. The ability to do a large batch conversion. A whole library from FLAC to MP3 for example

I think that's about it. Not too much to ask is it? Can anyone recommend anything? Thanks in advance.

XLD, easy to use, but also good for advanced users

Thanks. Does it qualify? I have used it in the past but I had a feeling it doesn't do the Uncompressed FLAC thing.

I use MAX to convert CDs to FLAC.  It does a whole range of conversions and I'm pretty sure it will allow uncompressed FLAC.

It's open source too - so it's free!

Goat, use XLD, it's a nice piece of software.

XLD is great, and I just looked and Max supports a flac compression level of "0"  Max gives the option of 0 to 8, or lets you customize it.

While I am a big fan of all Steven Booth has done (MAX, PLAY etc.) I cannot use or recommend software (MAX) which has not been updated since August 2009.  The Mac OS has been updated numerous times since then.  MAX no longer appears to be under development.

Gregg is there something that needs updating?  Max runs under OS X 10.8, and I'm not aware of any deficiency, but if you are I'd be delighted to hear about it.

Bart

No deficiency at all.  I simply believe that applications need to be continually maintained and updated.  Three years with no update makes it a non contender for me (personally speaking).
